Wolseley is situated on a natural watershed that divides the Berg River (renowned for the annual Berg River Marathon) and the Breede River (one of the largest navigable rivers in South Africa).

The town is surrounded by the Waaihoek Mountains, Witzen Mountains and Waterfall Mountains and is unique in that it can be accessed via any one of four splendid passes: Du Toitskloof Pass, Bainskloof Pass, Nuwekloof Pass and Michells Pass.

The natural surroundings mean exciting outdoor adventures! Go river rowing, hiking along waterfalls, walking, game-viewing, bird-watching, mountain biking, bush walking and on 4x4 trails.

The Kluitjieskraal MTB Route, just west of Wolseley, is renowned for its spectacular scenery and challenging hills, some of which climb as high as 400m above sea level - descent is rocky with narrow jeep/single-tracks. It is a water-rich route that passes through the MTO Forestry Reserve and traverses the Waterfall Mountain twice. The 46km trail is scenically splendid and quite tough, while the 15km trail is more of a family-friendly fun ride.
