Garden Route and Klein Karoo
The Garden Route and Klein Karoo are overlapping tourism regions within the Garden Route District Municipality. The Garden Route, along the Southern Cape coast, boasts scenic beaches, mountains, forests and heritage sites, while the semi-arid Klein Karoo is home to attractions such as the Cango Caves, ostrich and wine farms and nature reserves.
Cape Overberg
With its headquarters in Bredasdorp, the Overberg District Municipality governs four local municipalities and includes the major towns of Grabouw, Caledon, Hermanus, Bredasdorp and Swellendam, as well as Africa’s southernmost point, Cape Agulhas. The scenic Overberg is an important grain-farming region – mainly wheat – but tourism is a growing industry.
