It’s a 31km stretch of beautiful coastline with no less than 18 bays. There are three working harbours and it’s renowned for being one of the world’s prime fishing centres. The ocean abounds with marine life, providing an all important source of income for the locals and a delectable array of seafood dishes throughout the year.
The bay is home to whales and dolphins all year round and the beaches offer safe swimming and sunbathing. The area is also for those interested in birds - particularly in spring - when migrant species flock to the nearby mating grounds. St. Helena Bay is one of only three natural bays on the mainland coastlines of the world, where one can see views of both sunrise and sunset over the sea.
