Ladismith

If you’re in need of some digital downtime, peace and tranquility, this is the place for you!

The town of Ladismith lies at the foot of the Klein Swartberg Mountains, where the majestic Towerkop – with its split peak – guards the town. Local legend has it that a witch, flying overhead during a thunderstorm one night, found the peak obstructing her passage. In anger she struck it with her magic wand, splitting it in two!

This prosperous farming community produces fresh and dried apricots, peaches, grapes and plums for export and local markets, milk for two cheese factories, wine and mutton, as well as ostriches. The local wine cellar offers a wide variety of wines.

Outside in the sunshine is the place to be. There’s a nine-hole golf-course, tennis, cricket, bowls, mountain biking and hiking, as well as 4x4 routes. For mountaineers there are five of the eight highest peaks in the Western Cape to be climbed, including Seweweekspoort Peak, which is the highest (2325m) in the Western Cape. The views are wow-inspiring.
