Resting in a fertile valley between the Langeberg Mountains and mighty Breede River, Bonnievale’s name says it all – it is a friendly, happy place with loads on offer for any traveler.
The lush valley is dotted with fruit farms and wine estates and there is much to see and do both in the town and in the beautiful natural surroundings. No city life here, just home-grown hospitality and nature at its best.
There are wine cellars, wine estates and private wine producers in the area and the Robertson Wine Route, which have in recent years won national and international acclaim for being outstanding.
A guided tour along the slopes of the Langeberg with breathtaking views over the Breede River Valley is a must. Along the way, you’ll encounter indigenous trees, the Breede River redfin carp that is hovering on extinction, old leopard traps, rock formations, historic stonewall and black eagles. Refresh yourself at the waterfall or go for a swim in one of the crisp mountain pools.
There is much to see and do in the area: wine tasting, hiking, 4x4 trails, golfing, fishing, canoeing, a cruise on The Breede River Goose, bird-watching and more, but most of all it is a place for relaxing, breathing in fresh air and enjoying the hospitality of Bonnievale and its warm and friendly locals!
