The Knysna Oyster Festival 2020 is proud to announce the full line-up for their virtual festival event taking place from Saturday, June 27th to Saturday, July 4th.
Despite the initial announcement to postpone the event until 2021, it was decided by Visit Knysna and the team involved that there is nothing stopping the popular festival from re-convening online, allowing for a virtual festival to take place.
This premium sport and lifestyle festival promises to once again thrill oyster enthusiasts, fitness fanatics and lovers of the good life alike anywhere in the world, all from the comfort of their own homes. It will offer a programme of unique events for sport lovers, families and adventurers, with an abundance of fun activities spread over seven days.
“One of Das Connexion’s core values is to give back as much as you take out. Getting involved with the Virtual Knysna Oyster Festival and offering of my own time is exactly, at a crucial time, to give back to our destination that needs all our local support. I am doing two events - "Conversations with Das" - and both are dedicated to two local charity organisations to try and raise funds for them when they are needing it most,” said Managing Director of Das Connexion, Das Boffa-Meyer.
This year’s line-up includes live performances by local artists such as Tony Cook and Suzie Jo, a family trivia night, an art show, motivational talks, cooking classes with Kilzer Kitchen, oyster shows by local oyster experts, and an array of sporting events including the virtual Rotary Knysna Cycle Tour, Knysna Marathon, Sailing and many others. It will also feature an exclusive interview with Springbok Legend Tendai "The Beast" Mtawarira, presented by Dean Allen.
“In planning the virtual Rotary Knysna Cycle Tour we wanted to present participants something unique and compelling that would appeal to a wide audience. The public has responded enthusiastically to the program, and we look forward to hosting our first virtual cycle tour this weekend,” said tour organiser, Race Director Ivan van Lier from Knysna Speed Festival.
"The Virtual Knysna Oyster Festival line up offers a breadth and depth of tailored experiences to be enjoyed by the whole family. We're thrilled that the iconic Garden Route event can still proceed virtually, enticing visitors to come see, taste and experience all Knysna and the greater Knysna area has to offer once leisure travel resumes," commented Wesgro CEO, Tim Harris.
