Is Die Strandloper a restaurant?
We won’t call Die Strandloper a restaurant, it’s a culinary experience.
The dining area is outdoors, mostly covered by shading. The turquoise ocean is only a stone's-throw away and you can actually stick your feet into the sand right at your table. The atmosphere is laid-back and informal and you’ll be welcomed with the famous West Coast hospitality – you’ll feel at home from the moment you arrive!
The dining area is built around a series of fire pits at which your meal will be cooked. Think linefish, curries, seafood stews, kreef (crayfish) and, of course, the famous homemade breads.
You can join Strandloper for either lunch or dinner service and you’ll be treated to a 10-course set menu meal. Most dishes are served buffet-style, so you can return for a second bite. Kids under 12 have a special rate and kids under five eat for free.
What’s on the menu?
Brace yourselves for some serious dining. On your 10-course culinary adventure at Strandloper, you’ll be treated to mussels, West Coast mullet, fish curry, braaied snoek with potatoes and sweet potatoes, beef and bean stew, smoked angelfish, linefish and kreef (half a kreef per adult), all served with roosterkoek, fresh bread, farm butter and home made jams. The meal is finally finished off with koeksisters with moerkoffie and rooibos tea.
