Since its inception in 2015, Cape Town Air Access has been widely recognised as a progressive and collaborative effort across all three spheres of government and the private sector.
The overarching mandate of the project is to broaden Western Cape air access for targeted international markets, to improve economic competitiveness through focused demand stimulation and alignment of infrastructure and services.
The strength of the project lies in the partnership it has created between the six government entities that form the Cape Town Air Access steering committee – the Western Cape Government, City of Cape Town, Cape Town Tourism, Wesgro, South African Tourism and Airports Company South Africa – and the private sector partners that not only provide funding towards the project, but also offer an advisory role, guiding the direction of the initiative.
