The Castle of Good Hope
What to expect: The Castle of Good Hope is the oldest building in South Africa and was once a fort, but today showcases the Cape’s early days and is a popular museum. Built by Jan van Riebeeck and the Dutch East India Company. The castle gates open at 9am and close at 4pm.

railton township tour
What to expect: A relatively new experience offered in Swellendam, Meisie Bokwana’s tour of the Railton Township shows you a different side to this fascinating town. Born in Swellendam to a Xhosa father and Pondo mother from the Eastern Cape, Meisie is a treasure trove of information and her standing in the community is second-to-none. The tour is around two-and-a-half hours long, incorporating the oldest building in Railton (Bloemfontein Huisie), traditional Xhosa beer, song and dance from local children and a township tour by foot or car. A must for anybody visiting the town of Swellendam.

What to expect: Swellendam is a town steeped in history and the Drosdy Museum provides a fascinating window into its past. The main building and open Trades Yard highlights the Dutch East India period of the town – and country – while the Mayville House provides an example of the Victorian Era that came after.

outeniqua power van
What to expect: Perfect for the whole family, both the little kids and the big kids (moms and dads) will get to experience the beauty of the Outeniqua Mountains on this unique railway journey. The power van leaves from the Outeniqua Transport Museum in George and travels upwards through six tunnels, natural forests and fynbos, including an abundance of King Proteas, and culminates with epic views of the valley from the summit. The return trip includes a picnic about halfway down the track and ends back at the museum.

Point of Human Origins
What to expect: Founded by Jonathan Kaplan and Dr. Nilssen, it started when they discovered a Middle Stone Age hidden in the Pinnacle Point Caves during a survey they conducted as part of the environmental impact assessment for the development of the Pinnacle Point Beach & Golf Estate. You can now discover these archeological sites for yourself that have been made accessible to smaller groups of no more than 12 under the direction and guidance of professional archeologist Dr. Peter Nilssen. Tour will meet at Pinnacle Point Club House where this exciting and explorative half day excursions will depart from, this tour will change the way you see your origins.
