This week, Wesgro CEO Tim Harris is attending the 41st Annual World Tourism Conference in Kigali, Rwanda.

In collaboration with the Rwanda Development Board, The Corporate Council on Africa and Africa Travel Association designed this conference to set the tone for how tourism can be utilized as an engine for economic growth and job creation through innovative business models, new technologies and strategic partnerships.

The conference will also provide a platform to network and explore new tourism markets and products including the promotion and preservation of Africa’s rich cultural heritage and wildlife.

Harris will be participating in three panels entitled The Business Traveller, Lifestyle Tourism: Leveraging Africa's Diversity and On Location! Africa in the Movies during the four-day conference.

"In 2014, a total of 65.3 million international tourists visited Africa, and as Cape Town and the Western Cape's official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency, Wesgro has been working towards positioning Cape Town and the Western Cape as the gateway to Africa.

"Our Air Access unit has secured a number of new routes and expansions throughout the continent over the past two years, and our Leisure Tourism unit has partnered with stakeholders such as the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group as well as other trade shows such as We Are Africa to make wider connections in the African travel industry and promote the province," said Harris.
