Wesgro congratulates Cape Town’s Triggerfish Animation Studio on its third international animation award win in a row this season.
The studio has won Le Chrystal from Annecy France, Best Storytelling at the Shanghai International Film and TV Festival in China, and the Best Animation at the World Banff Media Festival in Canada, for their most recent animated film, Revolting Rhymes.
Cape Town and Western Cape Film and Media Promotion Head Monica Rorvik said, “These wins were well earned by this hard-working studio, and it’s the second year in a row they scored this triple win. Last year their TV production Stickman remarkably won all three accolades as well. Revolting Rhymes seems poised to continue its winning roll.”
But Rorvik is not surprised at the wins by this hard working team that Wesgro has been pleased to help at various times. “The Triggerfish team has consistently performed at the leading edge of the world’s animation industry, winning many diverse creative and entrepreneurial awards over the years. As part of their thought leading strategy they signed with the William Morris talent agency in Los Angeles, California one of the top firms in the field. They’re also looking to the future and are building sector capacity by running various incubators such as their Animate Africa project and before that their Storylab incubator.”
Triggerfish Animation Studios CEO Stuart Forest said, “We’re thrilled to have won all these awards for the second year in a row. At this stage in our industry's development, we need to earn trust from the rest of the world, and these awards show that we can consistently outperform global standards.”
