With its headquarters in Bredasdorp, the Overberg District Municipality governs four local municipalities and includes the major towns of Grabouw, Caledon, Hermanus, Bredasdorp and Swellendam, as well as Africa’s southernmost point, Cape Agulhas. The scenic Overberg is an important grain-farming region – mainly wheat – but tourism is a growing industry.
Cape town

Set between the Atlantic Ocean and Cederberg mountains, the ruggedly scenic West Coast has a rich cultural heritage and wealth of agricultural, tourism and manufacturing activities. The district is a large contributor to the Western Cape’s GDP. The area comprises five local municipalities, and the major towns are Saldanha Bay, Vredenburg and Malmesbury.
Cape Karoo
The Central Karoo District Municipality is headquartered in Beaufort West and comprises three local municipalities: Laingsburg, Prince Albert and Beaufort West. The tranquil district, a growing tourism sector, boasts vast landscapes and is a base for sheep and goat farming. It is transversed by the N1 highway from Cape Town to Johannesburg.
