Hands on Harvest, 1 – 3 March 2019

Where: Robertson

Based in the beautiful Robertson Valley and running through the first weekend of March, the Hands on Harvest offers festival goers the experience of grape picking, barrel tastings, getting their feet in a barrel for some grape stomping, grape vs wine tasting, a fun day out, and, of course, delicious and fresh harvest inspired menus.

Cape Rouleur, 3 – 7 March 2019

Where: Franschhoek

A multi-stage endurance road racing event that covers 600km and almost 6,000m + of climbing, the Cape Rouleur is yet another premier cycling event based in Cape Town and the Western Cape. It is a pro style event that has rolling road closures, seeded groups commensurate with ability and full technical, medical, logistic and pro crew support. Cape Rouleur riders also get the opportunity to gain seeded entry to the Cape Town Cycle Tour followed by VIP hospitality. This gives participants a full week of cycling, comprising of a prologue, three stages of the Cape Rouleur and a 112km Festival ride into Cape Town escorted in style by the City traffic police.

KKNK, 3 – 7 March 2019

The Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (KKNK) is a visual and performing arts spectacular that takes place annually in the historic town of Oudshoorn. Since starting in 1994, KKNK has brought together a selection of entertainers from artists, singers, writers and comedians all showcasing their unique talents to bring you a hot line up of great entertainment. A great family-themed event and a showcase of the Garden Route and Klein Karoo.

Cape Town International Animation Festival, 8 –10 March 2019

The world’s largest timed cycle race, the Cape Cycle Tour is the jewel in the crown for cycling in the Mother City and easily one of South Africa’s largest – and most popular – sporting events. Held every year in March, the route is 109km long and one of the most beautiful in the world, circling the Cape Peninsula with the start and the finish in the shadow of the iconic Table Mountain. Cape Town Carnival, 16 March 2019

Get ready for one of the Mother City’s biggest parties! The Cape Town Carnival is a glamorous celebration of African identity, diverse communities and cultures, and the transformative power of creativity. The carnival parade begins at around 7.30pm and lasts for around two hours, but the festivities kick off long before with food stalls and hospitality areas lining the streets. Expect dazzling large scale floats with more than 2000 costumed dancers, musicians and entertainers in tow.

absa cape epic, 17 - 24 March

An iconic stage-racing event, the Absa Cape Epic has become one of mountain biking’s biggest draws globally. The largest full-service mountain bike stage race in the world, the Cape Epic covers 700kms of the Western Cape region in South Africa. The route changes significantly each year and lures amateur and professional cyclists from across the globe to test their mettle. In 2015, 55 countries were represented at the race, which kicked off with a prologue on the slopes of Table Mountain and culminated in the Grand Finale finish at Meerendal Wine Estate in Durbanville.

Cape Town International Jazz Festival, 29 - 30 March

In early April every year, Cape Town give jazz lovers a chance to see top local and international jazz musicians at the foot of Table Mountain. The Cape Town International Jazz festival is the fourth-biggest jazz festival in the world and the largest music event in sub-Saharan Africa, drawing in an excess of 35,000 people every year. The organisers promise an incredible line-up of more than 40 performers and jazz virtuosos who will grace the stages of “Africa’s Grandest Gathering” over the two show days.
