Garden Route and Klein Karoo

Nestled in the tranquil village of Schoemanshoek – not far from Oudsthoorn – is the family-run vineyard Karusa. A gem of the Cape Karoo and a surprising find in an area arguably not known for its wine-making abilities. Well-known for its Cape Classique, Mediterranean-style wines and Craft Beer, Karusa is a favourite stop in the Cape Karoo.

Tasting Room

Housed in a rustic room dating back to the late 1800s, tastings at Karusa are incredibly well-priced at R45 for 5 wines, while the tasting experience is warm and laidback, just like everything else here. This approach to tasting will no doubt ensure you return for more of the same whenever you are in the area next.

Restaurant

Enjoy a chilled glass of Karusa wine overlooking the vineyards and magnificent surrounding landscape, whilst sampling Karoo-style tapas made from only the freshest ingredients found in the area.

Craft Beer

‘Made by nature, nurtured by man’, Karusa is quickly establishing its name in the Craft Beer stakes as well with some wonderful brews being made on the farm. Enjoy a Long Neck Blonde with Karoo-style tapas or an espresso-infused chocolate stout – either way you wont be disappointed with your choice – they are all top drawer.

Accommodation

The Karusa Farm Cottage is one of is one of two renovated farmworker houses dating back to the 1950’s. These units are a product of passion and dedication as all renovations has been done after hours and by hand only. Not only does this farm stay offers spectacular mountain and landscape views midst the vineyards and orchards but also enables you to engage with nature and explore new adventures. The setting is ideal for a simple, peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
