Purpose of the Job:

Wesgro is host to the Cape Health Technology Park (“CHTP”) project. The CHTP is aimed at stimulating innovation and supporting university–industry–government collaboration with the intent of creating high-technology economic development. The successful incumbent is principally responsible for research activities, interpreting data, formulating reports and making recommendations based upon the research findings.


Minimum of three years’ experience within a research and/or analysis environment. An appropriate diploma or qualification in Economics, Research and Analysis. Post-graduate degree in a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a professional environment engaging with stakeholders is essential. Sound understanding of the workings of the Western Cape Government will be advantageous. Basic Market research. Intermediate GIS skills – basic mapping.

Key Competences:

A dynamic individual who possesses strong organizational skills. Able to develop and build relations with identified clients. The appointee will have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as basic project management skills. Computer literacy is essential. The appointee should be a google savvy investigator able to research any topic, navigate large amounts of content and condense into useful summaries. He/she should be a team player and deadline driven. Networking and problem solving skills are essential. Excellent writing skills for different forms of communication (formal, report, invitation, email, newsletter etc) are key, and an understanding of how to manage communications to large databases would be an added bonus. In addition the ideal candidate should be an accountable individual, who behaves with integrity, honesty and produces work of exceptional quality. A go getter, non-procrastinator, positive, energetic person ready to engage with deep and complex issues, fueled with passion to make a difference.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Database management & support.

• Development of a geo-referenced database of health technology companies and industry stakeholders

• Analytical desktop research

• Conduction of surveys and interviews with companies and development of reports and profiles reflecting the results of the surveys/interviews

• Development of content that makes sense to any reader

The incumbent will report to the Head of Strategic Projects.
