In the past, people wrote their names on the windows of their houses. At Elianthe’s Guesthouse, the name Henri Battenberg is carved into the window-pane in the front of the house. Jean Henri Battenberg arrived in Swellendam in the 1850’s. Everyone said that the Battenbergs were royalty, or related to royalty. This old charming Victorian building is 180years old, with original wood beams, doors and sash windows with shutters. It offers you excellent accommodation in Swellendam. With 6 bedrooms al en-suite, each with their own private entrance, leading into the large garden.
